Cathy Strahan and Gerardo Martinez transformed our outdoor living space. I first worked with Cathy in 2018. She designed a private courtyard for us. I asked her to Feng shui the space. Our front yard became functional and secure in the most beautiful way. I called her again in 2024 to tackle our backyard- an area sloped toward the Lafayette Creek that touches our property line. It was a muddy mess back there and we never used it. We needed drainage and levels and stairs and lights. Cathy designed all that plus a sitting area, dining area, bbq space, ice tub area, hideaway storage and stylish fencing. Because she and Gerardo work seamlessly together all the unforeseen issues that naturally arise were handled elegantly without straying from the design or budget. The mix of materials, rocks and pavers, wood and metal, are stunning. She chose paver colors that pop without overpowering the natural beauty of a creekside backyard. Gerardo and his family are talented woodworkers too. They extended my deck and built wood walls and fences. They worked through January and February. By end of year a wall had moved. Gerardo came back to fix it. He went above and beyond, replaced a post, built a new gate, at his own expense. He adjusted pavers where he saw puddles. A year later and it still looks brand new.
